I am a technologist with 30 years of software development experience across ad tech, finance, e-commerce and industrial sectors. I've worked in depth in all layers of the software stack but have specific expertise in building data warehousing applications. Years ago I built complete custom data solutions spanning from ETL through to BI using self-hosted Python and MySQL, and have in recent years built the equivalent systems using modern tools like Snowflake and DBT on top of AWS services. Recently I've begun to work in the space of LLM-assisted data applications.Most of my experience has been at small to mid-sized companies and I've been at multiple startups where we've scaled from a handful of engineers to a larger team. I have a deep understanding of the tradeoffs teams must make in those early days to balance quality and speed, and how to evolve the tech stack as the company grows.
I currently work with engineering teams at small-to-mid sized companies to plan and evolve their technology stack. I work with them to take inventory of their current systems, help determine the architecture they ultimately need, and then mentor the team to help get them there.
